Gelbes lenkrad am tacho nach winterreifenwechsel bei ATU?

  • did this change anything? if not pls contact your VW Dealer or you should go to a better garage than ATU.

Warum behindert die StVZO meinen Geschmack?

  • the most important thing is you should turn your steering wheel in both directions. Because the "computer"/pc(i dont know the right word) of your car has to learn how to work again if the battery was disconnected...

I have not tried yet. my car is parked in the sudstadt Nürnberg.. Parking is very bad there... but will maybe try later in about one hour. i will get back to you on this .. ##

Do you think it could be something serious or is quite common with Golf V owners ?

    Thank you john

  • its often the problem, when the battery was disconnected for a longer time, but in most cases it will be okay, abet driving a few meters.

i don't think that it will be something serious, just test it again, drive some meter, turn the steering wheel the whole way left and after it right an see if something changes.

if not just you should go to your VW Dealer, and remember, don't go to ATU Again!!!! ;)

  • I have driven it 5 kms back home from ATU yesterday and today and its still on... went off for a very short while but then came back on . was the battery disconnected by ATU ? when changing the summer to winter tyres....

the battery has never been disconnected while i have had it.

how do i tighten the nuts / the battery + ( positive ) first or - ( minus ) first.. is it ok to touch the battery ?

ime not very good with cars.. this the first German car i have bought... drives really good. but heard repair costs can be expensive.

    Many thanks John

  • of course it is no problem to touch the battery ;) but be carefu, do not connect the + and - pole accidentally.

i guess it is not the problem of loosen battery contacts, otherwise the car won't start good etc.

it could be that ATU alway disconnect the battery when working on a car (may they don't have trust in their staff xD )

the thing is that you have to relearn the steering angle sensor and normally its done by steering right and left while driving with low speed.

  • Course you can touch your battery, just dont touch both poles at the same time. if you think the connection might be loose, take a screwdriver and tighten both sides. I dont spose thatll be the problem though, if you had faulty connections youd have trouble starting and running.

when you tried the "drive slow, steer all the way left, then steer all the way right, straighten up and continue driving at slow speed"-routine, let us know what happened. if all goes well you should have no more funny lights staring at ya :)

    take care, J

  • Or ATU stole your good battery and put in some ol´ shit...

  • Jesus.... your English is good...... i cant tell the difference ......

I´ll give that a go today..

Strangely enough it was running through my mind before i took the car to ATU that they might tamper withe car....

you know like a Television or washing machine repair man

2 weeks ago i was at ATU to buy some children´s car seats.... i was waiting 15 minutes.. people were coming into the shop and getting served before me.... i was observing this and to tell you the truth when i noticed that they had no protocol with people who waited the longest . i complained to the guy when i actually did get served in a diplomatic manner... any way he sent me to the back of the shop where the children s car seating was . i waited there another 15 - 20 minutes.. and same thing people were coming in and getting served before me . for me this is like a red rag before a bull...if your in a shop a you always serve those who waited the longest first.. its common sense.....anyway i eventually got served by a woman . who was very freindly.but i never the less pointed out to the lady that really you should improve your customer service and serve those who have been waiting the longest first . Maybe she said something to the mechanic .. a revenge act .

Because normally when the mechanic drove my car back onto the car park at ATU . he himself would have seen the Gelb Lenkrad am tacho.. but did not say anything.....

    ATU.. auschauen sehr Gut

ATU kunden Service .....in my opinion .. bad

  • Phoned the central ATU in Weiden today.. i complained.... Wow she was very respectful " Oh i understand "..... " yes i see what you mean ".. that was 4 hours ago...

Just had a phone call from the main mechanic at ATU in Nürnberg . WOW he was very pleasant and nice..

i have to bring the Car tomorrow they are going to .. test the car Kostenlos ! he said it would take all day... Bullshit

we talked for ten minutes . i explained to him even if there was no problem before and you caused the problem.. you could just say it was "peck " or fate...

    I just dont trust ATU.

  • Please don't misunderstand me, but i don't get, that u still want, that ATU is fixing this. Why u don't drive to an VW dealer or if it's too expansive to any other workshop. The employees of ATU be instructed to do things like that. They always telling u, that there are things, that are not there! KNOW they're telling u, that they will look at the problem. And when they know what it is (if they don't already know) and know how much money they can get from u, then they will present you the bill! In my opinion, they have done anything to get more money from u, except the 15€ for changing the tires!

  • I don't want to start talking about misterious things that maybe happen at ATU, but in fact i have seen reports on tv in that former worker from ATU mentioned that they were told to do things or tell things, that raise the bill.

So - people tell much things if the day is long ... but i have heard so much negativ about them and i have been there exactyl one time ;)
The first and the last time. I don't think they are experts in what they do.

Go to another shop and get it fixed there. Even if its ;( for you.

I complained to ATU central in Weiden... they are going to see if they can find the problem. because i complained.. got to say i really dont trust them......

Ist es reines zufall das diese Warnsignal leuchtet oder hab ATU.. sheiß gebaut ? meine instinct sagt das die haben was falsches gemacht .... was denlken Sie ? das Auto hat nur 20,000 Km stand

Atu are not fixing it they said want to see where the problem is because i complained . i have a right to complain . when i took the car and parked there was never this Gelbe Lenkrad warnsignal am tacho... beim abholung 100 % ya ..

there is more chance that they have done something wrong than the chance that it could just appear at that moment when i went to pick my car up
